Wow... so you real wanna know, huh?

Well I once had a blog where I featured some of the most beautiful men from pictures I found laying around on the internet. It was a great blog that I was running for years. Then one day I stopped to really think about the fact that a majority of the men that were featured did not reflect who I am. Most of the guys were't black. Can you believe it? I had to stop and wonder why this was the case. The honest answer to that is a bit difficult to put a finger on. Or is it?

Did I somehow appreciate non-black ( *ahem* white) more than my own? It's believable, considering the post-colonial society I grew up in that told me the standard of beauty is found in the white ideal. Believable, but not really true. Not.... completely true. I know I didn't grow up unscathed by these ridiculous ideals -- fed to us as routinely as morning porridge and taught to us like an extra hour of class every day that we didn't sign up for but couldn't avoid -- but from a personal standpoint that wasn't the reason my previous blog looked the way it did.

The truth? Great photos of hot black men were hella hard to find! Seriously. On top of all that was just mentioned, it was difficult to come across quality pics of beautiful black men that I would feel fit in with the rest of the features on that blog. The internet 10 years ago wasn't the internet it is today and neither was the world, for that matter.

But  when I had my "aha moment" I decided that it was time for a change. I decided it was time to focus on celebrating the people that looked more like me. I decided to dedicated a blog to those who were black, man, and beautiful...

Yes, there's a reason for those little dot things between each word. All three can stand on their own but they aren't mutually exclusive. You can be black, a man, and beautiful all at the same time and this is what this blog was meant to showcase.

So I spent the time to get to find all the other blogs out there with similar interests where I could steal... I mean... where I could source the best photos to feature here.

Of course as time progressed, technology advanced, and I got more skilled it became easier and easier for me to find those photos that my other, previous blog had been lacking. And with communities like Instagram and tumblr (I was reeeally late to the tumblr train) I hit the jackpot. It's still a bit more difficult sourcing and curating this sort of content (than others), but I am proud of the work I'm able to do now.

The blog  since inception has been on and off... and at one point I moved with the time to Instagram exclusively posting there (it was just easier and I have a life, you know!) and the community there had enabled me to really make connections with the people who were actually MAKING the content I was picking up off the internet. I could credit the models and photographers, I would discover the people behind some of the most inspiring photos I had previously featured but knew nothing about...

With all the time spent on social media, building an audience and I network, I decided it was time to move back to this platform. To do the same thing, but a little different... Thus, this blog was rebooted.
